Holiday Lights

Mall Lights 2 Posted by Hello

I just love this time of year with all the festive events and Christmas atmosphere beginning to stir. A favorite event is the annual "Holiday Lights Festival" (pictured above) in downtown Omaha along the mall and riverfront.

At six o'clock on Thanksgiving night over one million holiday lights will be activated. Events include children singing carol's, ice skating, giant ice sculptures, horse drawn buggy rides and much more.....Don't forget the hot chocolate drinking.....

The list of things to be thankful for is long, but I just wanted to mention one small event that really begins to stir my holiday juices.

May God continue to bless and protect our country.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Elevated Trailer Park?...

Mobile Home Posted by Hello

Memo to self....Scratch the vacation plans to Disneyland, Universal Studios, The Grand Canyon, and Easter Island...An eighth wonder of the world has been discovered.

The Clinton Library is open!

Could this meaningless event generate anymore news coverage? If we must be subjected to this hype machine, why not provide interesting facts. For one, I would like to know how they got a mobile home to stay suspended in air. Are there car ramps involved?...Maybe a large number of carefully placed beer cans?...And where is the Mighty Mart?...I mean, how am I supposed to enjoy my visit without a 44 ounce slurpie and a king sized Slim Jim?!

Someone please let me know when the ribbon cutting takes place for the Bubba Clinton head being added to Mt. Rushmore....Would hate to miss another life changing event.

Forgot To Say Goodbye...

See Ya!! Posted by Hello

Don't know how I forgot to acknowledge the departure of Yasser Arafat. For those keeping count, that's one less terrorist occupying space on our planet.

Special Young Men

Thanking Our Soldiers Posted by Hello

As a police officer I come in contact with many people all day long. Few were as memorable, or had such a positive mental impact as the two young men I met today. I would say they were about 19 years old, clean cut, and blended in as your average looking young people. I may have grown a bit cynical of today's youth after being bombarded by the "MTV" portrayal of youth voters during this campaign year. I needed to be reminded that not all young people hold the values (or lack there of) that an Eminem or P. Diddy spew from their pie hole.

One of the young men kept looking at me, and finally approached. "can I ask you a question officer?" I said "sure, what can I help you with". He asked " Are things different now?...I mean since 9-11...do people act differently?". His words sounded so passionate, like he just had to know. I told him that most people still seem to be willing to do whatever it takes for the overall security of one another, but that as time goes on, the strong bond we all felt when attacked has decreased a bit. The young man continued to ask questions on many security related subjects, all the while seeming to hang on my every word and appearing mature beyond his years.

The two young men told me that the were flying out today to attend boot camp. All the questioning started to make sense to me now. I don't want to read to much into it, but I felt as though they were trying to get the pulse of the nation which they were now preparing to serve as new military soldiers. They were both going to different states for training, one to Georgia, and the other to Oklahoma. I asked the young man I had been talking to if he was nervous, and without pause he said " no...I am ready to kick ass!". Now understand it is hard for me to express in words how this came across, but it was not a cocky Rambo type statement. This guy oozed pride and eagerness to serve his country. Talking with these young men filled me with a great sense of pride and respect for our past, present and future soldiers and defenders of this great land of ours.

As the young men departed we shook hands and I extened my congratulations and blessings for the future that they were more that willing to embark on. It is still hard for me to fully explain, but I have been on an emotional high since meeting these men today. It was great to see another side of the "real youth" of today, one not always portrayed by today's media venues. May God bless and protect them always!

Nation Divided?

Paint it RED baby!! Posted by Hello

This map shows the counties won by each candidate. Bush (red) and Kerry (blue) . This is hardly a representation of a "nation divided" as the dems would have you believe. This map shows the majority voice of the American people who are obviously not as stupid and gullible as the lefties would like us to believe.

Power to the people!

A Renewed Hope!...

The fact that the smug, elite media, and entertainment types were not enough to fool the American public on election day has brought me a sense of pride for our nation. We are smarter than the immorally twisted minority, that tries to force down our throats their views that our contrary to what this nation was built upon.

We now have four years to continue to right the ship. Let there be no mistake, Bush has many short comings and has not always made decisions that I agree with. But I know in my heart that he will not sell out our country, or embarrass the office that belongs to the citizens of this nation. I thank our Lord that he continues to cover us with care and mercy. The dark and stormy brewing clouds disguised as John Kerry and John Edwards have been lifted. And today the sun shines a little more brightly. There is a lot of work to be done, but today I have a renewed hope for our country.

Election Day Posted by Hello

Election Day...

Our nation makes a huge choice today on what we stand for, and in what direction were headed. Are we a nation that sides with John Kerry and those who endorse him such as Michael Moore, the communist party, France, Germany, Eminem, the Hollywood elite, Osama Bin Laden, pro choice/abortion/gay marriage supporters...And so on. The list goes on, but we all know that we are a direct reflection of the friends who surround us.

I will have to admit that I am very nervous about the outcome of this election. I have to continue to remind myself that in the big picture God has sovereigns control of all things. I just hope that we have not drifted so far that we choose to push our Lord further away from who we are, and what we stand for as a nation. I hope the next posting will contain a Bush victory. May God continue to bless and protect our great country!
