Merry Christmas!
Manger
Luke 2
The Birth of Jesus
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
The Shepherds and the Angels And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
May we always remember that Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas. His birth and sacrifice is the greatest gift of all.
Have a blessed Christmas!
Nick Saban Meets With Dolphins
Saban
LSU head coach Nick Saban met with officials of the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday evening about their head coaching position. I am not convinced that Saban could bring my Dolphins back to NFL supremacy, but I would like to see him get the chance. As a desperate fan I am willing to try someone that carries some hype and see what happens.
The discussion took place after Saban notified LSU in writing of the meeting, LSU athletics director Skip Bertman said. "We are all aware that other NFL teams have made overtures to him in the past and he hasn't expressed any interest," Bertman said. "But this is one of the premier jobs in the NFL and he owes it to his family and their future to hear what the Dolphins have to say."
If Saban can't turn the team around in a couple years I would have no problem dropping the Trump on him.. "YOUR FIRED!"
On Strike!!
On Strike
Strange News - AP
DELTONA, Fla. - Even though the dishes, garbage and dirty laundry were piling up, homeowners Cat and Harlan Barnard were getting no help from their two children.
After begging and pleading with their 17-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter to help out around the house, the Barnards decided they were fed up. So they went on strike and moved out to the front yard.
"This was our last-ditch effort," Cat Barnard said.
I love the whole idea of going on strike, only I would have the kids stay out in the tent. Call it an NHL owners lockout kinda deal. Kids remain on the outside until the issues are resolved.
Listen, none of us liked chores or duties when we were growing up, but those structured responsibilities helped us grow into respectful young adults. We may have grumbled under our breath, but we sure never fussed or refused to do as we were told. Not in my world anyway.
All I have to do is look around me and see the kids that have no rules, no responsibilities, and no accountability. These are the same one's that are lazy, rude, disrespectful to parents, and immature.
Most of the blame goes on the parents for being to soft, and trying to be the child's friend more than displaying who is in charge. The lines should not be blurred. I am down with the strike thing, or another harmless way of trying to get their attention if necessary. I do think removal of the Playstation 2, or a ban on Cartoon Network for a week would do the trick :)
Real American Christmas Tour
Glenn Beck
Last night I attended the "Glenn Beck Real American Christmas Tour" here in Omaha. It was a no PC allowed celebration of Christmas, and a tribute to our US military. There was even a special standing ovation for a soldier who was with the unit that killed Uday and Qusay Hussan. Personal holiday stories were told with humor and passion, and always an attempt to bring "Christ" and "Jesus" back into the leading role.
If the tour comes to your town I highly recommend that you try to attend. Check schedule at www.glennbeck.com
