1994 National Champions Honored

1994 Huskers Posted by Hello

It's Homecoming in Lincoln and in addition to the King and Queen being named at halftime and the beautiful displays by the Greek Fraternities and Sororities on campus, the 1994 National Championship team is in town to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Nebraska's third team national championship. More than 90 members of the '94 team will return to Lincoln for a private dinner on Friday and to be recognized on the field on Saturday. Included in the list of returnees are All-Americans Tommie Frazier, Aaron Graham, Brenden Stai, Ed Stewart, Aaron Taylor and Jared Tomich. The list of dignitaries also includes baseball All-American and current Anaheim Angel Darin Erstad and former coaches Tom Osborne, Charlie McBride, Milt Tenopir and Dan Young.. Several players were unable to come because of professional football obligations including Chris Dishman, Jay Foreman, Barron Miles, Mike Minter, Mike Rucker, Cory Schlesinger, Adam Treu and All-Americans Zach Wiegert and Grant Wistrom. Fans are asked to get to their seats early so they do not miss a very special tribute to the 1994 National Championship Team.

It is my hope that today’s husker players can feed of the tradition and energy of past champions and get a huge win over Missouri today. A win today would bring closer the number of victories needed to secure a bowl bid. With not many streaks still alive, it would be awesome to keep that NCAA bowl appearance record going! My plan today is to try and relax and enjoy the weekend. Spend time with friends I have not seen in a while, and enjoy some football. With only hours remaining until election time, my nervousness grows more intense. I need to remember that the Lord has his hands on the process and his will and plan will prevail.

I will wait till later to respond to that Bin Laden video that has got my blood boiling. There is plenty to Chew On with that subject. But for now I shall embark on a glorious Saturday morning, filled with pigskins, crisp fall air, crunchy leaves, and prayers for God’s protective watch over our nation.

Kerry Waffle Head Posted by Hello
You have to love the 12 foot high John Kerry head made of waffles that a Glenn Beck www.glennbeck.com listener is taking on the road. It will be speaking Kerryizms and other nonsense!

Vote Or Die

This is the message from the wacko extreme left celebrity types. People like Cameron Diaz, Sean Puffy Combs, Cher, and many, many more. I really don't want to even give their names any ink. Having a political opinion that invokes competent dialog is fine. Different views are fine. But when irresponsible "celebrities" make unfounded and dangerous comments, they must be called on it. But there in lies another point, no main stream media calls these nuts out. Claims such as "Vote or die", "not voting will allow women to be raped", "Bush will implement the draft", all go unchallenged except by a Fox News or bloggers like us.

Now, time to address the state of Husker Nation. I am starting to lose faith that the new coaching staff has any idea how to manage and get the best out of the current players. I am willing to give some understanding and time while the new offensive system takes hold. But I am not willing to return to the passive, read and react defenses that were the downfall of Husker pasts. Coach Cosgrove had a history with the Wisconsin Badgers of playing the bend don't break style. This is not the direction the Blackshirts wish to return to, and they are playing uninspired defense because of it. Here's something to chew on...Coach Coz!!...UNLEASH THE HOUNDS AND THROW UP THE BONES!!!

Thinking Out Loud

All I wanted to do was bag my groceries, and then I heard the elderly woman say it. The woman had approached the video rental clerk and asked “do you have Fahrenheit 911?” the clerk responded “no, they only sent us one copy”. At this point I had a choice, say nothing and continue to bag my goods, or follow my impulse and fire off a one liner. You guessed it, I chose the latter.

“Sounds like one to many copies in stock to me”. The old woman became very un-grandma like at this point and fired back. “I wasn’t talking to you!” Then I said “ I was talking to the clerk”. “Well nobody asked you for your opinion” she says. And I replied “that’s the beauty of this country, I can speak my mind”. She then stormed off angry and bitter and saying something I could not understand. So I said a little too loud “typical liberal”. She heard this and came marching back toward me “what did you say?” I thought this old lady was going to throw down on me. I told her “I was talking to the clerk if you don’t mind”. She then turned and began to storm off again. I began to chant…four more years…four more years!

Now let me clarify a couple things. This event was very unlike my usual demeanor. I problebly should not have even opened my mouth, but it just kinda came out when I heard her ask for that video. I was never rude, angry, or disrespectful to the woman, although I was a bit sarcastic. I must be so saturated with Kerry/Edwards garbage speak, along with the debates and talk radio that I just vented a bit. No harm, no foul. It did get the attention of the others folks in the store.

I bagged up my all American food items and headed for my car. As I approached my modest little four door vehicle with it’s “God Bless America” and “Boycott France” decals, who drives by me but the little old lady, proudly displaying her freedom to give me the bird. I extended a broad smile, chuckled, and thought to myself…four more years…four more years!

Promise Anything For A Vote

I did not want to give anymore keystrokes to the silky pony (Jonh Edwards), but the say anything trial lawyer has outdone himself. Check out this statement:

Edwards Stem Cell Vision: 'We will stop juvenile diabetes, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and other debilitating diseases... When John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going get up out of that wheelchair and walk again.' Edwards made the unprecedented campaign promises during 30-minute speech at Newton High School gym in Newton, Iowa...

We all knew the Kerry/Edwards ticket would exploit the death of Mr. Reeves for political gain. I now believe nothing will be off limits for the left as they pull out every stop to take the election. This latest stunt is a disgusting, pathetic, and insensitive misuse of false hope for those living with an extremely difficult condition.

Something to chew on: Last week my Huskers got embarrassed 70 to 10 by TexasTech, and this week Tommy Lee of Motley Crew will be playing drums with the Husker marching band at halftime of the homecoming game against Baylor (while shooting a reality show on campus). If you would have told me either one of those things were possible I would have laughed you out of the room! Strange days indeed...

Dark Day For Husker Nation

Huskers 10 Texas Tech 70...enough said! A new coaching staff, a new offense, and growing pains are expected. But not a history making 60 point drubbing!! Lots of blame to go around, but let's start with coach Callahan. There comes a point when you have to try and kill the clock and get out of town with a little dignity. 35+ short field points given up because Callahan would not deviate from his style of offense. Never should have reached 70 points!

Thanks coach Solich for dropping the recruiting ball years ago. Pathetic effort and evaluation of talent. Defensive coach Cosgrove, that weak, laid back, read and react three man rush may have worked inthe big ten, but it will get you spanked in the big twelve. Make some adjustments, and adopt Bo Pelini's attacking, bringin to ya style defense.

I am a Husker fan for life, and am critical because I care what happens with this program. If the current recruiting class holds, and a few more key positions are filled I see a quick turn around. Look forward to seeing Harrison Beck next year!

GO BIG RED!!

Weekend Thoughts

Weekend thoughts Posted by Hello
The debate went much smoother for President Bush last night. I thought he made his points clearly, and seemed more confident. I am not really sure why a third debate is necessary. Both candidates have covered all the areas they are willing to speak about, and are beginning to become repetitive. Kerry still came off as an empty suit. He has a “plan” for everything, but never tells you what it is. Kerry throws out the “I’m a Catholic” line, and still defends a pro abortion stance. Although he never really makes that clear also. He refuses to take a hard stand on anything for fear it will cost him a vote. A leader he is not!

The Huskers take on Texas Tech tonight and are a seven point underdog. My fearless prediction has Nebraska committing no turnovers, while grabbing three interceptions of there own. Huskers 35 Red Raiders 20

Something to chew on. If you partake in the grocery store samples that are provide and don’t buy the product, should you feel guilty? Well if the person serving up the samples is almost eighty years old, and she is serving you while seated on her rascal mobile chair, the answer is yes. Needless to say I bought the four pack of Wolfgang Puck iced mocha.

Vote 2004 Posted by Hello

Debate Speak

I can't stand the way John (silky pony) Edwards feels the need to talk to the American people like we are five year olds. Just listening to his smug, demeaning tone irritates me to no end. Hey Edwards, just because I am not a trial lawyer, feel free to talk to me as though I am not currently attending pre-K.

How can anyone look at this guy and not see phony written on his forehead. I may not think much of John ( the waffle king) Kerry, but he does not give me that scary feeling that Edwards does. I can't explain it except to say it's a matter of personal discernment on my part that leaves me very uncomfortable. And yes, the issues of both are way off base if they even believe what they are saying or not. Neither man seems to have a "core".

On a lighter note, I finished a six hour course on first aid/CPR today and I noticed something to chew on. Over the last twelve or more years of CPR classes, resuscitation Annie has continued to shrink from year to year. She used to have a full torso. Then she shrunk to waist level. And now she extends no further than the rib cage. I do believe that in the future we might find nothing more than a heart, set of lungs, and collagen lips just lying on the floor...

Fast Weekend

What a fast weekend, Monday is rapidly approaching. Most of the Sunday chores have been completed. This afternoon will see some laundry being done, NFL being watched, and country ribs being cooked. Just got back from the store, and tell me if this annoys you. “That sure looks good, are we cooking today?” “I have never tried this before” says the cashier as I checkout. I mean, do I have to comment on the contents of my shopping cart with this stranger?

Not trying to be rude, but why not take it a bit further. I also had a roll of toilet tissue in my cart. Shall we discuss what I intend to do with that…LOL.

I will have to try and explore deeper issues as the new week begins. The debates will continue, and I am sure that lurch (Kerry) and silky pony/slip and fall lawyer (Edwards) will be on the attack. I will try and provide my “unbiased” thoughts as the days unfold…LOL.

Game Day!!

Looking forward to having friends over tonight to watch the Nebraska vs Kansas game. Going to do some grillin and chillin! Going to ask my buddy to help me add a counter and tweak a few things on my blog also.

It has been funny, interesting, and sometimes a bit spooky reading the random blogs. I will have to go back and read a few that I came across just to see how thier lives turn out...can't look away from the car crash type deal...LOL

Bring On The Chill

When this morning started off with muggy warm air, I counted the hours away waiting for the promised cold front to barrel through and bring a death blow to summer and the bugs living on the green mile.

Around 11:00 am the flag went limp, and then jumped up rapidly and stretched her glory south as a northerly gust front punched through the heartland.

It is now 9:30 pm and temps have fallen 35 degrees and continue to fall. As for the flying, crawling pests of summer? Not one to be found while standing on my deck soaking up the crisp night air, and the light of the harvest moon. This was my little message to welcome in October saying, thanks, you have been missed.
