On Strike!!

On Strike Posted by Hello

Strange News - AP

DELTONA, Fla. - Even though the dishes, garbage and dirty laundry were piling up, homeowners Cat and Harlan Barnard were getting no help from their two children.

After begging and pleading with their 17-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter to help out around the house, the Barnards decided they were fed up. So they went on strike — and moved out to the front yard.
"This was our last-ditch effort," Cat Barnard said.

I love the whole idea of going on strike, only I would have the kids stay out in the tent. Call it an NHL owners lockout kinda deal. Kids remain on the outside until the issues are resolved.

Listen, none of us liked chores or duties when we were growing up, but those structured responsibilities helped us grow into respectful young adults. We may have grumbled under our breath, but we sure never fussed or refused to do as we were told. Not in my world anyway.

All I have to do is look around me and see the kids that have no rules, no responsibilities, and no accountability. These are the same one's that are lazy, rude, disrespectful to parents, and immature.

Most of the blame goes on the parents for being to soft, and trying to be the child's friend more than displaying who is in charge. The lines should not be blurred. I am down with the strike thing, or another harmless way of trying to get their attention if necessary. I do think removal of the Playstation 2, or a ban on Cartoon Network for a week would do the trick :)
